White Rabbit, finally!

Finally. After many times trying to get a reservation, we managed to visit White Rabbit yesterday! I love the ambience! It's definitely a must visit place for the ambience. Before that, here are some pics of parrots in an enclosure at Dempsey!

This is the enclosure with parrots!
Three musketeers? I love these red ones, very pretty.

This one blends in with the background.
I've never seen blue ones before! Very unique and pretty too.
This naughty one was chewing on the fence and eating nuts, very greedy but cute!

Here are some pics of the White Rabbit. Seriously, I love the place. There are so many interesting things!

See the cute rabbits enclosed in the gigantic cage?
 A swing in the outdoors...
Seriously, I can't tell what this is. Can someone tell me what this is? Haha.
Cable car! But it's very old and dirty. Rustic feel.

Looks like the inside of an European church. I love it!

First up was our appetizer. This was recommended by the waiter. It's called "Chilled Crab Cocktail". It consists of avocado, caviar, tomato and citrus foam. Actually the foam tasted abit weird. It was somewhat like eating SOAP. The appetizer tasted refreshing, yet it's somewhat weird at the same time, haha. I can't decide if I like it or dislike it. But the caviar was good :) Just don't touch the foam!

Darling had Char-Grilled Mangalica Pork Collar. It was very delicious. The sides are very crispy and you could taste the juiciness and fatty parts. There were also apple bits served on the side. The cream you see tasted somewhat like butter. But it's called calvados cream.

The fish I had. It's called Grilled Atlantic Cod. I found the vegetables and sauce nice. The skin of the fish was nice too. But the fish was overcooked. Each bite was tough and tasted obviously overcooked. I didn't like it as much. I wish it wasn't overcooked so that each bite would be smoother and softer. The cod fish at Covelli tasted way better than this.

Our dessert - White Chocolate Soufflé. This was my first time eating Soufflé. The crust of the Soufflé was sweet and sugary. The inside tasted soft like tofu. And there was some white chocolate inside, but very little. I wish there was more white chocolate inside the Soufflé. The triple chocolate ice cream was nice though. Very smooth, creamy and chocolatey and it tasted somewhat nutty.

See? We demolished our dessert. Be glad we didn't lick up the plate :p

Overall, I will rate White Rabbit 3/5 for the food and 10/5 for the ambience, haha.Yes, that's how nice the ambience is. I love it so much. The service was also top notch with the waitors asking you if everything's all right and how the food was. If you called for them, they'd respond to you quickly too. They also came to top up water for us a few times. The food is very pricey though. Our meal here costed $150! If you have a special occasion to celebrate, I'd strongly encourage you to go. You'd have to call much earlier to reserve though, as it is always full house on Fridays and Saturdays. White Rabbit can be found at 39C Harding Road, Singapore.

Antoinette Loving!

Despite the bad coughing, I still engaged in chocolate and salted caramel crepe from Antoinette's yesterday! Heh. It's me and dearie's second visit to Antoinette. Our first visit was at Penhas Road. This time round, we went to Scarlet Hotel. Since it was only 6pm, and it was a weekday, we were the only customers there!

This is my yummy chocolate and salted caramel crepe which I had the other time at Penhas Road too. I prefer the one there. Somehow, it tasted nuttier and nicer there. The ice cream there had some sticky nougat, whereas this one didn't. And the crackers were much sweeter, thicker and yummier at Penhas. But the ones yesterday were not as good. If I crave for this dish again in the future, I'm so going back to Penhas instead!

Check out our food at Antoinette's! <3

Dearie had meat and bacon crepe, with mushroom gravy. I love the pot the gravy is served in, so cute! I took a bite of the crepe, it was not too bad.

The nice mushroom gravy which was served piping hot.

This was what I had: Nougatine. Unfortunately, Scarlet Hotel's Nougatine didn't taste of hazelnut nougatine at all :( But the one at Penhas had. I love the taste of the chocolate crepe mixed with salted caramel at the bottom. The crepe was thin and soft. Each bite was extremely chocolatey. This dish is not recommended for those who don't like too sweet food. But for sweet tooth people like me, this is ultimate heaven! I love the food at Antoinette and the ambience too. The interior decor is of victorian furniture, very european style. The service was okay. Overall, I will rate it 4/5. It definitely is one of my favorite restaurants, after Paul's of course. Haha. If you read my earlier entries, you'd know I'm a huge Paul's fan.

Antoinette can be found at: 33 Erskine Road, #01-02/03 The Scarlet Hotel, Singapore.

Ivins Peranakan Restaurant

Some updates on our contractors: We were both shocked that both our contractors quoted so highly. Before any discount or change, the first contractor quoted $95k and the second $86k! But the second contractor's quote didn't include many things, so if he were to include, I think it'd be much more expensive than the first.

Hence, I'm looking forward to our third contractor's quote. Hopefully it'd be more reasonable. However, the first contractor is willing to negotiate and after taking away some stuff that we didn't want, the quote came down to $68k. This is not including aircon though. SIGH. How costly it is to stay in Singapore! :(
But we're definitely going to bargain some more. Hopefully, wouldn't have to spend more than $65k on the renovations, excluding aircon and furniture. We are leaving aside about $30k for aircon, furniture, lighting and other miscellaneous stuff.

Well, anyway, on a happier note, here are some pigging out photos at Ivins Nyonya Peranakan Restaurant! I was there recently with dearie, my parents, sis and bro-in-law.

This is our honey pork. Tastes sweet and not too bad. Can be crunchier though.

Curry chicken. I'm not a huge fan though.

I enjoyed the assam fish head! The curry was nice and fish was fresh. I love eating ladies' fingers too. I couldn't help but kept slurping the curry on its own. Thumbs-up!

I didn't really like this though. It was a soft mass of eggs and prawns.

The nghor hiang rolls were sliced too thin. They didn't taste good. The sides were not crispy and you couldn't taste any prawn. I didn't like the filling too. My mom makes so much better nghor hiangs.

The kangkong was not exactly spicy. I don't like kangkong that much anyway.

We still had duck meat and desserts, but I didn't take photos. I would say Ivins' service is decent and the food is nice and served pretty quickly. I rate it 3.5/5. Ivins can be found at: 19/21 Binjai Park Bukit Timah,

Graze at Rochester

Ah...today is Friday but I'm going to town! What a lucky bitch right? Haha. Well, just need to settle some stuff today for wedding. We're heading to Cartier for touch up and engraving for our wedding bands. After which, we will also get mooncakes for our parents. I'm also going to try on my ROM dress today! So excited!

I wonder what to wear for ROM? I'm very likely wearing short. But what color? Design? Not sure yet. Anyway, here's a post on Graze, a restaurant at Rochester!

You've got to hand it to Graze for one of the restaurants with best ambience. I love how cosy it makes you feel. You can choose to sit outdoors also. But I really love the indoors. Outside, there's a big TV screen too. I'm not sure what it shows. But it's definitely a good chill out place outdoors.

Went down with my parents and dearie last weekend for lunch. I will rate it 3/5 for food and 5/5 for ambience. Service was pretty good too.

I think it's the wood and dim lights that make the place feel and look so cosy.

Anyway, first up...this was what dearie ordered:

Cod fish! I took a bite; it tasted slightly spicy. I think the dish will be better with some mashed potatoes on the side.

This was what my Dad ate. It's called "Lunch Platter". I think it consists of different kinds of raw fish including salmon if I'm not wrong. The jars contained some stuff but I'm not sure what they are! To go with the fish, I guess!

Mum had pancakes with maple syrup and butter. Not fair! That was what I wanted to order. I wanted to order the desserts platter but decided not to. It'd be such a waste if we couldn't finish it.

Next up is what sweet tooth me ate. Apple crumble with ice cream! Gee. It tasted totally different from the other time when I ate with dearie. Although it's still nice, I found the dessert too wet for my liking. Also, check out the red bits. I don't know what they are but they tasted abit too sweet for my liking. The apple bits were nice though.

Since I was pretty disappointed with my dessert, I decided to order potato wedges. To my initial horror, the wedges served were sweet potato wedges! I was really surprised why they put in their menu as "potato wedges". Unless I missed out the word "sweet potato". But to my delight, this was so GOOD! Everyone loved it. It tasted somewhat similar to your usual potato wedges, probably because of the salt they sprinkled over it.  But the sweet potato together with the crispy skin was good. Every bite was so delicious. Especially when you dip it in the mayo and other sauce. I'm not sure what the other sauce was, but I preferred the other sauce.

A pond with fishes they have outdoors. If you prefer some sun, chill outdoors! It's nice too.

Graze can be found at: 4 Rochester Park, Rochester Park, Singapore.

Cartier it is again!

And so dearie went down to town today to get our Cartier wedding bands. We were deciding between Cartier and Bvlgari last weekend, but decided to go ahead with Cartier.

I will upload pics of our wedding bands soon! Here are pics of my Cartier engagement ring! ;) I <3 Cartier!
